Crime Statistics

The Tennessee Incident-Based Reporting System (TIBRS) maintained by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) provides annual reports of crime data in Tennessee. In the 2019 crime statistics report, Rhea County had a total number of 350 crimes. This number includes 97 violent crimes and 253 property crimes. A breakdown of violent crimes reveals that there were no murders, one rape, two robberies, and 94 aggravated assaults. Property crimes recorded were 93 burglaries, 120 larcenies, 40 motor vehicle thefts, and no arsons.

The 2019 crime figures reveal a considerable decline in crime in Rhea County for over five years. Between 2015 and 2019, there was a decline in three out of eight major crimes. Rape, burglary, and arson rates declined by 50%, 42%, and 100% respectively. There were increases in aggravated assault, larceny, and motor vehicle theft rates, which grew by 42%, 6%, and 48% respectively. The rates of murder and robbery remained the same for both years.

The Rhea County Sheriff’s Department provides the public with online information about the current inmates incarcerated in the Rhea County Jail. It provides information such as the inmate’s name, status, sex, arrest date and time, the arresting officer, charges, days in jail, and bond.
